About this Item

Written in the German language, it contains 269 pages of the Deputy Fuhrer's most famous speeches. A first edition book, rebound in maroon cloth inscribed by Rudolf Hess to Walther Darre, Reichminister of Agriculture from 1933 to 1942. The handwritten inscription reads: Meinen alten Kampffenassen? (My old army buddy), R. Walther Darre, Christmas, 1937 (signed Rudolf Hess." Along with this book is a collection of another Darre piece of memorabilia and research materials relating to both Darre and Hess. First, laid inside this book is a finely produced lined envelope addressed to Walther Darre at a Berlin address. Inside is a 4.5" x 7.75" card with the gilt seal of the Nazi swastika and the engraved name of Adolf Hitler. On it is a typewritten note in German and then the signature in blue-black ink by Der Fuhrer. The translation is roughly: "Christmas, 1943. This year again, I will ask you to kindly accept a parcel that contains a small gift. It is part of a delivery which originated in a foreign country, specifically an occupied country, designated for my use. With heartfelt wishes for Christmas and the New Year. Yours (signed Adolf Hitler)." Second, an as-new copy of Anna Bramwell's book, "Blood and Soil: Walther Darre and Hitler's 'Green Party'" published by The Kensal Press, 1985, first edition book very tighty bound in a very fine dust jacket protected by a mylar sleeve. A political biography of Darre who popularized the slogan 'Blood and Soil" and his only biography in the English language. Third, a CD containing a U. S. State Department Special Mission that reports the Interrogation of Richard Walther Darre prior to the Nuremburg Trials. Fourth, a DVD of a History Channel videofilm production entitled "The Strange Quest of Rudolf Hess." This video describes Hess's lone flight to England in 1942 in an effort to negotiate peace between Germany and England only to be captured an spend the rest of his life in prison. It also address the question of whether Hess really died a suicide in Spandou Prison in Berlln or did he die decades before and was replaced by a look-alike double? Lastly, a notebook of reference materials regarding the research into the Hess book and the Hitler note including copies of photographs, catalog references, internet documents, translations, and notes that validate the signatures of the Nazi's two highest ranking officials.
