Cleveland: The Imperial Press, 1902 1st. small, gilt-stamped maroon cloth(4 3/4" x 7") ; x-library with usual marks; this copy inscribed "to the Columbus Library by Virginia Shedd Hodge, wife of the author, December 1909." According to Coyle (Ohio Authors), Orlando J. Hodge "was born in Hamburg, N.Y. He worked his passage on a lake boat to Cleveland in 1842, and after serving in the Mexican War he attended Geauga Seminary. During the Civil War he lived in Litchfield, Conn. and served two terms in the Connecticutt legislature. In 1867 he returned to Cleveland, where he held various political positions and was owner-editor of the Sun and Voice, 1878-1889." There was a later additional volume of reminiscences published in 1910. This volume includes Hodge's memory of seeing Lincoln in Cleveland at the time of the Lincoln-Douglas Debates. Orders usually ship within 2 business days. In recent years the United States Postal Service eliminated Surface or Economy shipping for international orders. As a result we can ship ONLY Airmail. If the book can fit in an Airmail envelope the charge is $15 and should arrive in 6-10 days. If the book is larger or needs the additional protection of a box the charge is between 20 and $65 for Airmail shipping.
