Ex-library copy. FIRST EDITION LIMITED TO 100 UNNUMBERED COPIES. Unpaged - 27 pages. Hardcover; H 23.25cm x L 15.75cm. No dust jacket (as issued?). Original undecorated beige cardstock boards with white title label affixed upon front cover, soiling and toning to boards and spine with scuffing along edges, library shelf sticker affixed at front cover's bottom left corner. Library stamp upon fore-edge; library stamps and marks upon both recto and verso of front free endpaper; shallow chipping at bottom edge of title leaf; remnant of peeled library pocket on rear free endpaper verso. Binding is still firm and interior leaves are clean. Features a six page essay on the history of early 19th century imprints in Detroit, Michigan with, of course, a focus upon the efforts of Father Gabriel Richard (1767-1832) whose printing press was active from at least 1809 to at least 1816 and perhaps as late as 1823. The remaining pages comprise Clarke's bibliography listing 43 titles under various imprints but all attributed to the Richard Press. Includes an unmarked errata sheet for bibliographic entry #19 laid-in between pages 19-20. The book's limitation is cited upon the title leaf verso. A scarce bibliographic reference.
