About the Author

Se traslad� desde Sevilla, donde naci� en 1836, a Madrid para dedicarse a la literatura. Padeci� tuberculosis y vivi� en la penuria econ�mica hasta que le nombraron censor de novelas y director de La ilustraci�n de Madrid. Entre sus obras en prosa destacan Cartas desde mi celda y Cartas literarias a una mujer, escritas en el Monasterio de Veruela. Muri� en Madrid, en 1870 y su verdadero nombre era Gustavo Adolfo Dom�nguez Bastida.
