TWO VOLUME COMPLETE SET - ALL TEXT IN ITALIAN. (Title translates as: "The Rhymes of M. Francisco Petrarch, Illustrated with Notes from P. Francesco Soave, C.R.S., University Professor of Philosophy in the University of Pavia. Volume I and Volume II.") Both hardcover volumes, H 21cm x L 13.25cm, uniformly bound in original vellum; spine decorated with gilt stamped bars and floral motifs, gilt title lettering in black compartment with gilt volume number in reddish-brown compartment. All edges gilt; silk page markers sewn into bindings; marbled endpapers with bookplates ("Markham et amicorum e libris clememtis") on front pastedowns. VOLUME I: [Frontispiece], i-cxviii, [2], 1-272 pages plus errata. Moderate soiling to boards, front board detached and past owner's crude repair of eight horizontal strips of modern scotch tape overlapping edge of front board across spine to rear board. Front flyleaf firmly adhered to front free endpaper; minimal to mild foxing but with a few preliminary and terminal leaves having strong foxing at margins. VOLUME II: [Frontispiece], 1-356 pages.
