Vintage original 11 x 14" (28 x 35 cm.) title lobby card, USA. Rin Tin Tin, Audrey Fereis, Carroll Nye, dir: D. Ross Lederman; Warner Brothers. Rare title card for one of movies' most popular dog hero series. This adventurous location-shot silent film (released with a Vitaphone score) is believed to be lost. The most famous dog star of his day, Rinty was found as one of a starving litter of pups by US Air Corps Corporal Lee Duncan on a battlefield in France in 1918. He was the only pup to survive the trip to the US and soon became a star -- one of the biggest box office draws between 1923-26 -- and saved Warner Brothers from bankruptcy. He earned $6000 per week in 1926; in 1930 he had his own radio show. Jean Harlow was a friend and had one of his pups. He died in her arms in 1932, just shy of his 14th birthday. Card has been cleaned and sized. Ink stains on the verso which once shown through have been removed. Expert professional restoration to remedy edge and border wear and holes. VERY GOOD-FINE.
