About this title

Born and raised in Linwood, Michigan, Richard La Flamme was a loyal, patriotic 'Linwoodite' who lived there his entire life. Richard began writing his book one-winter evening in 1994, sitting in his favorite easy chair in front of the living room fireplace. He never married. It was important he leave behind something tangible. He decided on the title A ROBIN'S WINTER because he related to the hearty robin that refused to leave his nest during harsh cruel winters, who loyally stayed behind instead of migrating to warmer climates. Wherever he traveled, Rich always returned to his nest by the bay ... where he remained happy and content all the days of his life.

About the Author:

Richard La Flamme was born in Linwood, MI. A loyal patriotic citizen, he made generous contributions to his community, helped found the Linwood Bicentennial Park, started The Linwood National Pickle Festival, diligently assisted in outfitting the park, provided town welcome signs, built and beautified the Sidewalk to the Bay and the Veteran's Memorial. He chaired the Pickle Festival, organized the parade every year, served in the National Guard, earned his college degree working at the local plastic plant, graduated from Central Michigan University in education and for nearly 40 years, taught in Zilwalkee, MI. He served forty years as Boy Scoutmaster, receiving highest scouting awards and recognition from the Governor of MI. Sadly, he died before the turn of the century, but left behind a memorable legacy of loyalty and generous devotion to community, 40 Eagle Scouts, and countless youngsters he helped along the way. With money he left behind, a flagpole was erected in Memorial Park, in his name, for the many local veterans who gave so much for their country.
