This, the first of Gorman's nearly 200 novels, features murder in an advertising agency. When one of the partners is stabbed to death, the other, Michael Ketchum, finds himself the police department's main "person of interest," as he struggles to save the agency. Then there's a second murder and a third, and Ketchum realizes he's fourth on the killer's list. This is a former library copy without most of the usual library damage. There are faint traces near the edges of both covers where the dustjacket was taped to the cover; there is a single line, three-word ink stamping in the corner of the title page; the back end page has a neat, rectangular stain where a card pocket was glued until the glue dried out and the pocket fell off. Except for lightly bumped bottom corners and a slight bit of shelf wear, there is no other damage or indication this is ex libris. The text is clean, tight and square. The dustjacket has fared even better; it shows some minor surface and edgewear, no significant tears, creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. A collectable copy of a very scarce Gorman book.
