Interesting collection of stories by completely unknown authors such as Lucy A. Brocksbank and her tale of a mysterious post office in a Shaker village in the granite state. Also includes biographies, poetry, anecdotes, marriages and deaths, letters (one by Rev. O.C. Wheeler from San Francisco who was having a tough time preaching to the gold miners), engraved image of The Notch House, White Mountains/New Hampshire (which looks nearly identical to the engraving produced by Currier & Ives almost a decade later) and another beautiful engraving of Eastport, Maine.
