INCRIBED ON THE FRONT FREE TO TELEVISION ADVERTISING PIONEER FRANK ARNOLD BY THE AUTHOR PETER DIXON AS WELL AS BY HIS WIFE AND CO-STAR ALINE BERRY DIXON: "To Frank Arnold/ whose pats on the back have meant a lot to us/ Aline Berry Dixon/ Peter Dixon". Early guide to writing for radio broadcasts, particularly entertainment broadcasts. Includes sections such as the radio audience, the writing system, taboos, sound effects, production, dramatic continuity, interviews on the air, setting the stage, radio dialogue, "invisible action", radio humor, programs for children, daily shows, weekly shows and a very early comment on television ("This Ting Called Television". Also included are six radio scripts which had actually been broadcast: "Skyscraper", "Famous Loves" , "Harbor Lights", Station KUKU", "Hank Simmons' Showboat", "Raising Junior". A tight, clean, near fine copy, bit of sunning to the spine and a mere touch of wear at the extremities. No dust jacket. Aline and Peter Dixon were writers and performers for several radio programs in the the 1930 (Peter's career lasted into the '50s). From 1932-1935 they hosted "Wheatena Sketches" sponsored by Wheatena. The recipient of the book, Frank Arnold, was a pioneer in the advertising aspect of radio and early television and authored the seminal work on the subject "Broadcast Advertising" in 1931 with an updated edition in1933 with a section on television.
