A delightfully bound guide to London and England from author Robert Allbut, what he terms 'the pilgrim's guide to Dickens' Land - the loving topography of that fertile and very populous region'.Supplemented with extracts of Charles Dickens' work, Allbut provides his audiences with ten suggested rambles themed around the writings of Dickens, with chapters titles 'Bank of England to Her Majesty's Theatre' and 'Excursion to Canterbury and Dover', for example.Illustrated with a frontispiece and sixteen engraved plates from artist Helen M. James. Collated, complete. The first edition under this title, previously published as 'London and Country Rambles with Charles Dickens' in 1886. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with gilt detailing. Boards are exceptionally bright. Spine faded, with bumping to head and tail. Internally, generally firmly bound though a little strained in places. Pages clean and bright. Many pages uncut to fore edge. Very Good.
