Publisher's brochure, printed in green and black (single leaf, folded into 4 pages); with laid-in order form; 216x140mm, closed. Evenly tanned; a little foxing on front cover. A very scarce advance list, dated 1 February 1933, that opens with an advertisement for the First American edition of ULYSSES, by James Joyce. The novel's fraught publication history is well known, but the text of Random House's advertisement bears repeating: "The battle which Random House has waged to remove the legal ban against Ulysses in America is expected to reach a climax late in February. A formidable mass of testimony has been collected in defense of the book from leading figures in every walk of life, and a favorable verdict is confidently expected. Provided that Ulysses is cleared by the courts, Random House will publish the book as soon as possible in a complete, unabridged edition, with a new introduction by James Joyce." Also includes ads for The Autobiography of Andre Gide, Rockwell Kent's illustrated Moby Dick, and more. Bookseller Inventory # BBJC12557
