Book Description Fulcrum Press, 20, Fitzroy Square, London W.1, 1971. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Third Edition. First impression of the third published edition - originally published in 1966. ***The Japanese-Zen-style black paintbrush drawings for the cover and the section headings are by Gary Snyder; the drawings of man, bird and deer are by Will Patersen; black and white frontispiece photograph of the author by Ken Walden; the book was designed by Stuart Montgomery. ***Very good in thin brown boards with gilt titles to spine. Extremities of boards slightly rubbed. Rear board slightly warped. Some useful scholarly notes and a few words underlined throughout the book and written very neatly in tiny handwriting in light soft pencil - which could be erased, if so wished. No foxing. Slight spine lean. Spine tight. No tears. ***In a very good "brown paper-bag appearance" designed very "paper-bag-thin" and fragile dustwrapper with Japanese-style "paintbrush" black titles to front panel and printed black titles to spine. Dustwrapper has not been price-clipped, showing publisher's price sticker of £4.50. Edges of dustwrapper slightly creased, nicked and rubbed. Head and tail of spine of dustwrapper slightly creased, nicked and rubbed. Front and rear panels of dustwrapper clean and bright. ***242 x 160 mm. 163 pages. ***'I've come to realise that the rhythms of my poems follow the rhythm of the physical work I'm doing and life I'm leading at any given time - which makes the music in my head which creates the line.' (Quote from inside front flap of wrapper blurb). ***The first comprehensive collection of poems by Gary Snyder: containing previously published titles: Riprap, Cold Mountain and Myths and Texts. Also contains the first publication of his two latest books The Back Country and Miyazawa Kenji, and a substantial number of poems (41 additional poems [some very short poems] enlarged to 86 poems) to be published in the then forthcoming collection The Back Country, as well as some other previously unpublished poems. ***Of interest to collectors of The Beats and Gary Snyder. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. Bookseller Inventory # 2757
