The purpose of this book reminds me of J.D. Manton s Introduction to Theological German: it is meant to get students of theology reading a theological language quickly at a journeyman s level. Its method is reminiscent of Fr. Reginald Foster s: it starts with real Latin texts, and builds the student s knowledge of morphology and syntax naturally upon the study of those texts. It is designed to be used by theology students working alone or with an instructor; but the book would also be useful for busy priests learning to say Mass in Latin, or for laypeople who desire to understand the Latin Mass. This book would have been helpful to me when I taught Latin in my parish church several years ago.
