About this title

Synopsis:

Each week, the students in Mrs. Halsey's kindergarten class bring in something for show-and-tell that has an assigned color--red, green, or blue. By the author of Which Pig Would You Choose?

From School Library Journal:

PreSchool-Grade 1-- A slight story about Andrew, his multiethnic kindergarten class, and their new custom of learning about each color on ``Red Day,'' ``Orange Day,'' etc. Accordingly, Andrew wears his red overalls one day, brings in orange jello the next, and shows off his green tractor on the third day. Soon, there are no more color days. The next day, the class sees a rainbow and Andrew gets the idea of using all the crayons to draw it. The text is simple; the children and objects are depicted as flat and childlike. The color is the thing here, but even that is simply done. There is no discussion of blending, nor is any unusual aspect presented; it's all just kindergarten and colors. The resulting layout is bright and cheerful. Although the text might be a bit easy for the intended audience, this is a pleasant school story about a familiar subject. If that combination fits the bill, this might be a useful addition. --Jane Marino, White Plains Pub . Lib . , NY
