Second British Edition. 3 volumes. I: ix, 336 pages. II: 309 pages. III: 341 pages. Modern spines on all three volumes with marbled boards. James Fenimore Cooper (1789-1851) was an American writer most famous for his frontier novels (ie. Last of the Mohicans) and sea tales of which 'The Red Rover' is among the better ones. He wrote it in Paris while living in Europe to increase his income from his writings and to give his children a better education. "The Red Rover' is set at sea in which most of the story is related during the voyage. A very good clean copy of the second English edition nicely bound. Seller Inventory # 11674
