About this title

Taking her cue from the lake that is central to the area about which she writes, author Karen Griffiths historical prose flows through the pages of this book, capturing the past, present, and possible future of the beautiful and enchanting Lake Lenore community. Lying just outside the city limits of Ouray, Colorado, the picturesque Lake Lenore area is a much-photographed, but privately-owned landscape, which is facing, like many mountain communities, the negatives of encroaching development. With hints of what might have been, glimpses of what once was and is now, and portents of what very well might one day be Reflections on Lake Lenore, while limited to a definite geographic location, presents the universal concern of the price of progress.

About the Author:

Karen Griffiths, a fourth-generation Coloradoan, took an early retirement in 1999 after twenty-five years of teaching in public school classrooms. An active poet and freelance writer for nearly forty years, she seeks to bring personal histories out to air, as on a clothesline, while attaching well-researched dates and factual details that refresh our views of how things once were for those who have gone before.
