About this title

Synopsis:

Beauregard Glover changes his thoughtless ways after learning about the Golden Rule in Sunday School

From School Library Journal:

Kindergarten-Grade 1 Who would guess that a freckle-faced boy, ``the picture of innocent charm,'' could harbor such ``mischief or harm''? Well, readers will meet himas Beauin this rhyming book of manners for primary listeners. He is a trial to his family and friends until the day he learns about the Golden Rule in Sunday School. Miracles never cease, for Beau listens (for once) to the teacher and decides to take heed. He changes his ways and finds that thinking of others before self does work. Quite an astute thinker, this five year old! Each rhyming verse has its own uninspiring illustration. The watercolor paintings, which alternate with line drawings, are pleasant enough in shading and color, but are unappealing because of their unattractive expressions. Other selections in this genre intended for the youngest audiences are Clifford's Manners (Scholastic, 1986) by Norman Birdwell and Pass the Peas, Please (Warner, 1988) by Dina Anastasio, both of which have more appeal.
