About this title

Synopsis:

In Terry Carroll's first photography monograph, he features selected images from 1977 - 2007 guided by the title's broad theme: Relationships. It is a warm and playful collection of photographs from around the world, capturing "telling moments" of people and other creatures engaged in life. His overt optimism is presented with unusual sophistication and visual elegance. Through the course of the 137 photos in this visual journey, Terry Carroll builds from a somber funeral procession, through solitude, awakening, engagement, and into wide-ranging interactions -- between individuals and their environment -- toward a convincing argument for the simple good.
His classic black-and-white photos are reproduced beautifully in rich duotone, and printed by the renowned Stinehour Press of Vermont. Relationships is a gorgeous and lively book, sure to delight. It will make a nice gift. A Limited First Edition of 750 copies, each is signed and numbered.

About the Author:

Author of Among the Fourth Graders, Terry Carroll took up photography as a teenager in the 1970s. He was inspired by the great human interest photographers of the mid-20th century, and he has maintained that era's romantic warmth in his own contemporary take on everyday life. Born in San Francisco in 1960, trained in writing and history, Terry Carroll lives in Oakland, California, where he splits his output between words and pictures.
