8vo. Stiff wrappers. 8pp. Near fine. Slightest of wear to outer wrappers. Sole edition. Text of a sermon given November 14, Laid in is a Typed Letter Signed from Jenkins (minister of this church), 1p, 7¼" X 10½", Galesburg, IL, 1951 April 23. Addressed to Ralph Newman, founder of Chicago's noted Abraham Lincoln Book Shop. Very good. Minor wear; mailing folds. Good content from one Sandburg friend to another, reading in part: "Two weeks ago last Saturday night Carl phoned me from Chicago. he wanted to have my opinion on his doing an autobiography. I told him that he owes it to us all and that it is the logical next work for him to do -- a thought which you have often expressed. He said that he was having a litte trouble with lumbago." (Sandburg's memoir, "Always the Young Strangers," would be published in 1952.) Signed simply "Alan." Quite interesting. Bookseller Inventory #
