About this Item

Three volumes, with I and III being printed in 1721, and volume II being printed in 1720. Second English edition, translated from the Dutch title "Het regt gebruik der werelt beschouwingen, ter overtuiginge van ongodisten en ongelovigen." Despite its earlier publication date, volume II is identified as being the second edition corrected, and it has approximate 15 additional pages with the pagination overlapping with volume III. There are 29 plates, with two different plates in volume II being number XIII, and no plates being numbered XIX. Contemporary bindings with slightly raised spine bands and gilt stamped lettering. Blind stamped decoration on top and bottom covers. Original spine labels remain good. Leather is scuffed and shows even fairly light wear. Joints are a little loose, though all volumes remain fairly tight. Book plate of Georgius Shepheard affixed to front paste down of all volumes. Volumes I and II with darkened contents from offsetting and mild foxing. Two inch closed tear in the first plate, not affecting images. Most plates show minor misfolds on edges, though are otherwise intact. Bookseller Inventory # 033092
