About this Item

First printing. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE FRONT FLY. Olive green cloth lettered in gilt; 148 pps. with index; illustrated. tales and anecdotes of the dentist-author's 53 years in Montclair, New Jersey from 1876. Of particlar interest is a photo of famed American artist George Inness as a uniformed member of a baseball team which competed in a "Fats" vs. "Leans" game held by the Montclair Athletic Club on labor day in 1891 (Inness was a "Lean"). There are also two pages on the Montclair Golf Club, one of the earliest golf clubs in America. A near fine example with a 1934 newspaper article about the book running serially, affixed to the first blank. In the rare original printed dust wrapper, very good with shallow chipping to the spine extremities and some separation at the folds. The only copy in dust jacket we have encountered.
