About this title
The author, Ann Bradley, brings this collection of poems and short stories to us as written from her heart. It took her several years of perseverance, the yearning to write and talent to create this collection. Many times she would write at any given moment or location; in the middle of the night and the middle of the day. The poems and short stories within contain many subjects and always heart and soul.About the Author:
I was born in Dallas Texas, on the 23rd of December 1929, and christened Anna Mae Gibson. My grandparents on my mother’s side (Minkley) emigrated from Reinhardt, Germany and the ones on my father’s side emigrated to the U.S. from some place in Ireland. Both entered the states by way of Galveston Bay, settled in Texas, where, by whatever circumstances, they met and married. My mother’s maiden name was Martha Mae Minkley, and as truly of German descent as one could be; but among her other many and wonderful qualities, she was a great cook. She married Tom Gibson; a full-fledged Irishman, who was a perfectionist at farming; and of which union was born twelve (12) children. I was the fifth youngest. When I was six years old, we moved from Texas to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where I grew up and married Tom W. Bradley August 4, 1950. Tom and I then moved to Espanola, New Mexico (which is about 24 miles north of Santa Fe) where we bought a place, and where a few years later our four daughters were born, grew up, and eventually graduated from McCurdy High School (actually grades 1-12). Tom and I gradually built an earth-moving business in northern New Mexico, of which Tom’s title was “Soil Conservation Contractor”, while I was a wife, mother, home-maker, Church Administrator, Sunday School Teacher, Girl Scout helper, seamstress, and among other things, bookkeeper for our business. We owned, operated and added to this business from about 1953 until our children were grown and no longer lived at home. We gradually retired from the business in 1989. Tom and I then moved to Centerville, Kansas early in 1990, bought the Velma Ross place west of Mound City, where we planned to spend the rest of our lives. I have always liked to write, but unfortunately, I haven’t always been successful. I feel honored that some of my work was chosen to make up a part of the United Methodist Church History Book. Ann Bradley – September 1995.
