The petitioner, acting as agent to the several parties concerned, requests compensation for the loss of 21 slaves and other "goods and chattels" belonging to William Scott, James Pettigrew, and John Pettigrew after being attacked by Cherokee Indians on 9 June 1794. The white people were put to death. Accompanying the report is a letter from R. Witherspoon to Gen. Richard Winn, dated "Williamsburgh, South Carolina, Nov. 22d, 1804" on pp. -8. 8vo. 8 pp. Shaw & Shoemaker 9594. Removed from a nonce volume.
