Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie (1853-1942) was a pioneering English Egyptologist. His "Researches in the Sinai" is an account of four months spent in the wilderness of the Sinai exploring, mapping, surveying, etc. Particular attention is paid to the ancient Egyptian temple at Serabit where Petrie claims to have discovered evidence of early Semitic worship and sacrifice. Petrie also talks about the conditions of travel, relations with the "Bedawy" etc. Chapters XVI-XVIII are written by C.T. Currelly. Bookseller Inventory # 000926
