About this title

Synopsis:

Equal parts shocking and moving, Off the Reservation: Stories I Almost Took to the Grave and Probably Should Have is an absurdist confessional memoir, accurately detailing the reckless hijinks of a bipolar alcoholic with borderline personality disorder. This stranger-than-fiction true story spans over three decades, as Michael recounts his tales with wincing honesty. Eventually, the maniacal nights of booze, drugs, and sex give way to rude awakenings in empty rooms, jail cells, and beds of snow from a failed suicide by Mother Nature. Rossi learns most of his lessons--gradually, reluctantly, painstakingly--without imposing them on anyone. Thankfully for us, these unapologetic, darkly comic tales haven't been taken to the grave just yet.

From the Author:

Before you read this collection of true, entertaining stories, you need to understand that it was written when I still believed I had power over alcohol. I do not. I have debated whether or not I should change the ending of this book to reflect the fact that I am a chronic alcoholic and my next drink could easily lead to my death, but as our endings are ever-changing,I have decided to leave it as it was written. I am saddened by the magnanimous attitude toward alcoholism reflected within these pages, but they were transcribed in the way I honestly felt at the time. In truth, if it were not for the help of family, friends, health professionals, and the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous,I would not be alive to write this note. That having been said, feel free to enjoy the hilarious destruction you will find here.
