Pp. 224, 4 chromolithograph color plates of adult skippers, 6 uncolored lithograph plates of male genitalia. Contemporary three-quarter red morocco leather (original blue printed wrappers bound in place), spine with 5 raised bands lettered in gilt in two compartments and with gilt floral decorations in the other compartments, over French marbled boards and with matching richly marbled endpapers, top page edge gilt, sm folio (12.75 x 10.5 inches). Transactions of the Zoological Society of London, volume 14, part 4. A detailed monograph on the Asian skippers from China and India and south through island Southeast Asia to Wallace's line. Small circular stamp of New York Zoological Society on the front wrapper, no other ownership marks. Some darkening to morocco at the outer corners and adjacent to the spine, light edge wear to boards, and a few ink spots on the wrappers; overall a very good copy in an attractive binding.
