About this Item

Yes, here it is, the hard-to-find 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm Hollywood "Long Play" (mono) vinyl LPH 30, "Rhythm and Blues in the night," featuring the ample and sultry (or is she actually inebriated?) charms of "My Living Doll" Julie Newmar herself to the jacket. Although there is definitely an electric guitar here, this is from the era when the rock and the bop focused more on sax and piano, with backup guys who could actually sing harmony. Others assert many of these tracks are actually by Abbey artists including Bobby Marshall; The Master Keys; and Brother Blues (Jack Dupree) and the Back Room Boys, evidently dating back to 1949 and 1950. We grade the vinyl very-good-plus to Side B but only "good-plus" to side A, which is why this one isn't priced up closer to $400. What that means is you'll hear some crackle, particularly to side A. Also it appears the center hole on this disc was punched slightly off center; unless you want to widen that hole you'll do better with a turntable arm that can deal with a little bit of yaw on a twice-a-minute cycle. Features "Mr. Blues," "Don't Cry Darlin'," "Steady Roll," etc. We strongly doubt the lovely Miss Newmar performed any musical function on these tracks. Jacket very-good-plus. Reduced from $155.
