Presentation inscription from the author on front wrapper. Biographical sketch of Bucke, a pioneer Canadian psychiatrist, with much about his boyhood in Ohio, the Shoshone Indians, and in the gold fields of California. Bucke was a close friend of Walt Whitman and visited him often in Camden, New Jersey. When Whitman became fatally ill, Bucke was his chief physician. He was one of the poet's pallbearers and was named one of his literary executors. Minor chipping to front wrapper, spine repaired, else very good. Bookseller Inventory # 66507
