About this title

What were the first cars Richard Petty drove? Was his number always 43? When did he start painting the cars Petty Blue? How did Petty Enterprises end up with Pontiac? The list goes on and on. The more the authors researched, the more they realized that large portions of the King’s career are obscure, a mystery to the legions of stock car racing fans and modelers who have discovered the sport in recent years. All this information and more is included for the diehard race fan or modeler.

About the Author:

Tim Bongard has been a Richard Petty fan since his dad introduced him to stock car racing when he was a young boy. Always fascinated with racing and how things worked, Tim found hobbies such as photography, model building and writing natural ways of understanding and appreciating more about racing. As a result, he has worked extensively in the photographic industry, written many how-to articles and features, and won numerous awards for his models.

Bill Coulter has had a fascination with the automobile since he was a child. He is a dedicated Richard Petty fan, a collector of paraphernalia and a self-proclaimed Petty historian. Coulter earned a bachelor of science degree in design from the University of Cincinnati.
