Synopsis: The title to the book Ride, Ride, Ranke, is taken from an old, well known Danish nursery rhyme. The title is written in the Danish language and is pronounced Reeda, Reeda, Ranka, which literally interpreted means 'ride, ride, the pony (or horse)'.
In the book Mull narrates her mother's journey from Denmark to South Dakota, as well as her journey through life as she becomes a wife and mother and deals with the hardship of farm life during some of the most difficult years of the twentieth century in America. Mull also shares her own experiences as she grows up on the farm, becomes a wife and mother herself, and builds a life for herself and her family in the midst of tragedy and want. Mull's story, both heartbreaking and heartwarming, shows how the love of family proves to be the strongest and most powerful influence in her life.
About the Author: Vylo Emery Fichter Mull's humble beginnings on a South Dakota farm taught her to work hard and motivated her to achieve a better life for herself and her children. Born in the early 1920s, Mull grew up during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, events that crippled the country. Still young after World War II and now the mother of three children, Mull tackled life with an optimistic spirit, working for many years as a beautician and later as a successful real estate broker. Mull now lives in Sun City West, Arizona, with her husband of 40 years.
