About this Item

In Swedish. The spine label reads - "Rim af Carolus B.", and this same lettering is on the title page with the addition of: "(Carl F. Bernstrom)", and it appears to be hand drawn. The book has the bookplate of "Wilh. Reslow" - Fac et Spera". From other sources I find that Wilhelm Reslow was the First Chairman of the Stockhom "Bookbinder's Union" in 1893. The first item in the book is a tipped-in, 3 page letter from "Carolus B." dated 1878. Most of the other pages contain examples of printing by K. L. Beckman of Stockholm, most being 4 page pamphlets, and all appear to be authored by Carl F. Bernstrom. The first example is "Till - Herr Fredrik Ekstrom - den 22 April 1871"; "Till J. W. Backstrom - Den 8 Mars 1873"; "Pa sallskapet W. 6. - Stockholm - Hogtidsdag - Den 7 Mars 1875 (8 pages); "Vid Sophie Nordelii - Graf - Den 9 Maj 1875"; "Vid Fredrick Ekstroms - Graf - Den 17 November 1878"; "Vid - Sophie och Theodor (?)Nystroms - Silfverbrollop - Den 22 Oktober 1880"; "Vid - Axel Cedergrens - Graf - Den 4 Juni 1881". There are an additional 16 items, with the last item being: "En visa om Varen - vid - Sallskapets "De Fattigas Vanner" - Sjuttio-Arsdag - Den 3 Maj 1896". There are a few additional newspaper clippings. Included in the book are an 8 page booklet - "Anteckningar om slagten Samsioe" which appears to be a genealogy of descendants of Simon and Jakob Samsio in the early 1700's. Bound in plain grey wraps with the deatched front cover wrap having the signature of "Wilh. Reslow - Stockholm 1887". Wilhelm Reslow has made many ink notes on the front and back inner covers. Measures about 137mm by 212mm. Also included loosely in the book is a 12 page pamphlet - "Minne fran Handelsforeningen Ceres' fest" - "i Aftonbladets satteri - fordagen den 21 Januari 1899" and measures 197mm by 272mm. In very good blue wraps and illustrated. There is a small waterstain (12mm by 18mm) to the lower corner of the pages. The book is bound in 3/4 grey-blue cloth with marbled boards. The covers are well attached with slight cracking to the hinges. The spine is darkened with some small stains to the covers. The pages and printing examples are very clean, still crisp, and are tightly bound. The book measures 8-3/4 inches by 11-1/2 inches (218mm by 287mm). Bookseller Inventory # 13527
