About the Author:

Jack Sweetman is a historian and the author, co-author, translator, editor or co-editor of 10 books and many shorter pieces in the field of naval and military history. For many years he was consulting editor of the Naval Institute's "Naval History" magazine, and he is a recipient of the Alfred Thayer Mahan Award for Literary Achievement and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Mr. Sweetman is co-author of the Naval Institute book "Leathernecks: An Illustrated History of the U.S. Marine Corps."

KENNETH J. HAGAN is Professor of Strategy at U.S. Naval War College at Monterey and is an award-winning author of many books including the New York Times Notable Book, This People's Navy.
