About this title:

Synopsis: Set in rural Appalachia, “River Rocks” is a riveting coming of age tale of two boys and a one-hundred-year-old local legend of 162 pounds of Confederate gold buried somewhere in the hills that surround their home. The buried gold was the result of an unsolved 1903 train robbery mystery, which liberated the U.S. government of a prized “Southern Jewel”. The old legend takes on a new life as Josh Baker and Eddie Debord, simply by chance, discover the illusive clue that will begin to lead them on the adventure of a lifetime! In their quest, the boys will find themselves drifting downriver on a homemade raft, biking down old railroad beds, hiking hills, exploring hidden and forbidden hollows, and trying to locate key old-timers who can help them put the puzzle together. While doing so, they will disappointedly discover the corruption of their own officials in the small town in which they live. It seems there is no honor among thieves! Suspense and danger prevail throughout the story as they close in on their target and, in the end, it could cost them much more than just a couple weeks of their summer vacation. Be careful wishing for big adventures....one may find you!

About the Author: Steve Kittner was born and raised in Elkview, West Virginia and spent his youth running up and down the muddy banks of the Elk River; fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and often being mischievous as boys along the river can be. Writing is something that he has liked doing most of his life, having written a few stories as a kid, one of which was displayed in the old Sunrise Museum in Charleston. His roots are deeply planted in West Virginia and his first novel came straight from the heart as well as from some of the experiences and adventures he had as a boy. Steve resides in Central Florida with his wife and children...and still enjoys a good adventure every now and then.
