Robert Newell (1807-1868) was an American Mountain Man and 'Doctor' who settled in Oregon and was involved in Indian Affairs of the Oregon Territory. He served as a peace commissioner in the Cayuse War keeping the Nez Perce neutral during the conflict. He settled in Oregon after 1840 and had 3 wives with 16 children and served in the Territorial Government and later the State Government. Very good clean copy. Bookseller Inventory # 13424
