About this title

In 1960 England, when young Neville Harris meets Chloe Hamilton at a concert, it is love at first sight. Chloe is a privileged only child, while Neville, Angela, and Richard, devoted siblings, are from a poor, working-class family. Neville and Chloe’s idyllic romance is short-lived, when Chloe’s scheming mother spirits Chloe away to New York. Heartbroken and surrounded by adversity, Neville becomes driven to succeed, eventually making his own way to America, where he becomes an internationally successful developer and committed humanitarian. A chance meeting with Chloe years later exposes a shocking revelation, one that steels Neville’s resolve not to lose Chloe again. Though outside forces continue to wreak havoc on their relationship, the lovers vow to do whatever is necessary to protect their rekindled romance. Spanning thirty years and three continents, amid treachery and intrigue, this epic love story offers up an unforgettable cast of characters and a memorable pair of lovers.

About the Author:

Born and raised in England, Marilyn Adkisson began writing poetry and short stories as a young girl, and completed her first full-length novel in the mid-nineties. While living in Hong Kong, she was known as “Auntie M,” a popular children’s storyteller. Today she lives in the Napa Valley, California, where she is working on her next novel, "Charmaine," a prequel to, "The Rocking Chair." It is the story of the Hamilton ancestry in Victorian England and takes place during the abolitionist movement in America. Marilyn is also just completing, "Counterfeit Husband," which is anticipated to be in print by the end of 2012. It is a powerfully honest and moving work, chronicling a woman's 18 year battle with her husband's disquieting personality, and how she fought to survive those years of emotional abuse, lies, deception and betrayal.
