The first of Walpole's Herries series. Green boards with stamping and gilt on front and spine. Endpaper maps and a pristine fold-out family tree in the back. Gilt very bright, stamping sharp. Some light staining to front cover, and bumping to top and bottom of spine. Half-title page and two of the advertising pages at the back are browned, and page edges appear to be darkened. The rest of the interior is bright, un-marked, apparently unread, and very good. See also our copies of Walpole's Judith Paris and The Fortress, in the same series. Bookseller Inventory # 001463
