32 p., soft cover. Mildred S. Friedman, editor of the journal, explains this issue: "[It] is devoted to a discussion of model rooms that have been designed for a specific exhibition, or transferred to an exhibition site.from their original locations. Martin Filler.analyzes the evolution of the model room from its early manifestations in such expositions as the 1851 Crystal Palace to its current proliferation as a sales tool in department stores. Susana Torres examines the idea of temporary spaces inserted into existing buildings in her article on the Fourth Federal Design Assembly's delegate lounges, designed for Washington, D.C.'s Pension Building in the fall of 1978." With the help of Stanley Tigerman, Torre, the firm of Moore Ruble Yudell, and the U.S. General Services Administration, six spaces were built in the pension building to display some exciting possibilities for construction and design that use only the GSA-approved supply list.
