This historical adventure novel is set in the years just before the outbreak of World War II and the Japanese expansion in the island archipelagos of southeast Asia. It follows Marijn van der Veen across Europe and Siberia and down to Senang, a little island off Java where van der Veen's huge family estates are located. Romance, a mysterious plantation on the edge of head-hunter country, and a wide range of human emotions in the face ruthless aggression all make for a memorable story. The author lived for many years in the East Indies and has published novels in France under the pen name of Claude Eylan. *** Bound in teal green cloth boards and spine with painted floral decoration on front cover and on spine, black lettering on spine. With the original color illustrated Dust Jacket (not price clipped) in a clear protective cover. The covers are clean with almost no wear.
