Michael Kenna's stunning landscapes, dreamworks of light and shadow, carry the viewer into the elegant world of French 16th-century garden designer Andre Le Notre, the genius behind the garden at Versailles. This second edition includes the original 40 quadratone plates plus an additional 20 images. A visual feast for the lover of both photography and the formal garden. The author, Eric T. Haskell is Professor of French Studies and Interdisciplinary Humanities at Scripps College where he is also Director of the Clark Humanities Museum. He received his Ph.D. in French Literature from the University of California, Irvine. He also studied Art History and Architecture in the graduate program at UCI and at the ╔cole du Louvre in Paris. Le N˘tre's Gardens, accompanied an exhibition he curated at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California.
