In the French language. 31 volumes of this series, not having the last volume - "Les Personnages Des Rougon-Macquart". All 31 volumes are bound in very clean, matching, light brown, half-leather, with still bright gilt lettering and gilt decorations on the spines. Each spine has 4 raised bands. The covers heve newer type marbling. The set has very good, unworn spines and unworn edges. Slight occasional, light rubbing to some spine edges. These 31 volumes were printed between 1921 and 1926, with most being printed in 1925 and 1926, with none being first editions. They were originally softcovers, with the owner having them custom bound. The pages are very clean, are still crisp, and are tightly bound, with the pages being yellowed. Some of the books in this series are single volumes, with a number being 2 volume sets. Each volume has between 200 to 428 pages. Titles included are: La Debacle; Nana; Au Bonheur Des Dames; La Curee; La Reve; L'Assommoir; Le Ventre De Paris; La Joie De Vivre; La Bete Humaine; La Fortune Des Rougon; L'Argent; Une Page D'Amour; La Conquette De Plassans; La Terre; Le Docteur Pascal; La Faute De L'Abbe Mouret; Germinal; Son Excellence Eugene Rougon; L'Oeuvre; and Pot-Bouille. There are no ownership inscriptions or bookplates. The set needs about 34 inches of shelf space. Each volume measures about 4-1/2 inches by 7 inches (about 115mm by 180mm).
