289 pages; maps, illustrations; index, 6 pages of ads for Harper publications; bound in green cloth with gilt lettering on the cover and spine. Small stain on the cover (1/2 x 1/4 inch). An account by a sixteen year old edited by his father with added material during 1868-1870. Spent 18 months in the Victoria mining district known as Majorca, then to Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland in New Zealand, to Honolulu and on to San Francisco by ship. By rail he crossed the United States through Chicago to New York and finally back to England. The work is kept in journal form. Bookseller Inventory # 10641
