About this title

Synopsis:

In 2011 people revolt against the Concern - a powerful secret international organization who is the true supremacy behind most industrial governments. The Regional Wars follow when technology and power grids shut down all over the globe. World order dissolves into chaos and anarchy. In San Francisco a ruthless group - the Guardians - seize power and turn the City into a feudal state where you either serve or die. JC - a Marine Vietnam Veteran biker - decides to make a perilous motorcycle run for freedom up the coast road to join the New Society in northern California. How will he avoid the Guardian patrols? Can he keep his old Harley running? Will the people he meets on his risky journey be friend or foe? Is freedom worth dying for? Can he kill again to protect his own life? Is freedom an illusion?

About the Author:

Gene has been riding and writing for forty years. In 1975 after a divorce, discharge, and two layoffs in the Silicon Valley - he traveled around the country on a Triumph Trident experiencing freedom and America at its best. He belongs to the American Motorcycle Association, ABATE, HOG, the Platte River Valley Riders, and likes to ride with any club or person heading out for the day. He attended his first Rider Rights Rally in San Francisco in 1975 and remained an activist with ABATE for two decades. Gene is a teacher and writer who enjoys playing drums with his surf band "Vintage Winds" whenever possible. Gene is a proud veteran and holds in esteem all those men and women who have served in peacetime or war. He wrote this story as a respect for all who have served past and present. He witnessed the aftermath to family and friends during the Vietnam war and feels that veterans rarely receive the recognition they deserve in our country. This story started over 20 years ago as a dream when Gene saw the run up the coast between Blackie and JC. The story and the conspiracy theory have evolved since that time. Gene put it aside in the late 1980s when his courageous wife was fighting cancer and again while he raised his daughters after her sad loss. In 2005 he decided it was both the time and destiny to finish the story. His family agreed. A Run Up The Coast is a story about courage to find a new way of life. Its about a struggle against overwhelming odds to obtain freedom - and the self discovery that occurs along the journey. Gene offers this story to promote his belief that "Freedom Is Not An Illusion ..."
