Description:

Former owner's signatures inside card cover and front endpaper. Very cool art-deco cover by Vera Bock., noteworthy Russian-American artist and illustrator. A little wear to spine, but nice condition. Carthage -- destroyed by the Romans in the year 6 B.C.E., to this day retains its image as the site of mass ritualistic murder of infants, a practice which the ancient Carthaginians did little to conceal. Archaeologically borne-out by repeated researchers and excavations, this center of infanticide is now the object of a revisionist campaign by several quasi-scientists who are more concerned with whitewashing what has been hisotrically confirmed, rather than telling the truth and moving on. Flaubert himself traveled to Carthage in 1858 in search of material for this book. Bookseller Inventory #
