The six act play by Edmond Rostand was written as a vehicle for Bernhardt and she created the role of Napoleon's son, Napoleon II of France, Duke of Reichstadt. It premiered on Mar. 15, 1900, at the Theatre Sarah Bernhardt in Paris. The play would be translated and performed by Maude Adams in New York City later that year. M. Descour is Miss Bernhardt's co-star. This is one her most famous and recognized roles. Trimmed on all sides with the "cop" of "copyright" cut off on left, VERY GOOD. Bookseller Inventory # 10282
