Book Description Philosophical Research Society; Limited edition (1975), 1975. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good (7 of 10). Twentieth Edition. Large Hardcover bound book, black boards, red & gold embossed title on cover. This copy is *AUTOGRAPHED/SIGNED* by Manly P. Hall on the front fly, inscribed to "Maureen with best wishes". Very Good (7 of 10) light shelf wear, mildly shaken. Heavily illustrated in b&w. Twentieth Edition - Reduced facsimile of the first edition. [After the publication of 'The secret Teachings of All Ages' Manly P. Hall went from being just another earnest young preacher in the City of Angels to becoming an icon of the increasingly influential metaphysical movement sweeping the country in the 1920s. His book challenged assumptions about society's spiritual roots and made people look at them in new ways. a gorgeous, dreamlike book of mysterious symbols, concise essays and colorful renderings of mythical beasts rising out of the sea, and angelic beings with lions' heads presiding over somber initiation rites in torch-lit temples of ancestral civilizations that had mastered latent powers beyond the reach of modern man. The greatest knowledge of all time should be available to the twentieth century not only in the one shilling editions of the Bohn Library in small type and shabby binding, but in a book that would be a monument, not merely a coffin.]. * * * * * {Any images shown next to the listing that have our 'aCastleofBooks' watermark on them are the exact item you will receive, all other images are for reference only. Book Description H. S. Crocker, 1928. Hardcover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 5th Edition. This is number 317 of 800 copies, as stated on the copyright page. Stated Fifth Edition, and not signed by Hall. The book is exceptional, with tight hinges and clean pages, though I do find a couple of notations in pencil in the margin, as shown in the photographs below. There is also a piece of tape applied to the verso of one of the fold out illustrations, as shown below. There is also some wear and rubbing to the outer edges of the boards and corners, but no major damage. Other than those minor details, the book is in extremely nice condition and very presentable regardless. This edition is very desirable due to its fine quality and beautiful plates. All are present here, and this is an incredible example of Manly P. Hall's exhaustive research into symbology and secret societies. An incredible work, fit for any fine collection.
