This copy is INSCRIBED by Smith to Warren Ramsey, Professor of Languages at UC Berkeley, on the free front endpaper "with gratitude and good wishes / William Jay Smith" and also SIGNED again on the title page under his printed name. In addition, there is laid in a TLS from Smith to Ramsey, dated 15 December 1958, about 300 words, with interesting comments about Laforgue, Grove Press, Wytter Bynner (the Spectra Hoax etc.), in addition to which there is a letterpress Christmas poem card, "Lignum Vitae" by Smith's wife Barbara Howes, INSCRIBED and SIGNED by both Howes and Smith; in original mailing envelope.
