About this Item

N.D., ca 1943, 12mo, 142pp, illustrated. VG in sunned, lightly chipped and soiled, still G dj. Not a scholarly history, per se, but the author, a long-time resident, has included a great deal of information about Adams County and its towns and cities. There is a chronological listing of important events to the 1930's; a description of the historical markers and memorials; notes on the early settlers; and numerous anecdotes and "firsts." One of the more prominent citizens of Adams County was the author, Gene Stratton Porter. There are several pages about her and the Limberlost Swamp, which was the setting for several of her books.
