IN PENTATEUCHO, ACCEDUNT LOCA SCRIPTURAE PARALLELA, VERBALIA ET REALIA, BREVESQUE ADNOTATIONES, QUIBUS NUCLEUS GRAECAE LXX. INTERPRETUM ET OO. VERSIONUM EXHIBETUR, . . . SELECTAE VARIANTES LECTIONES SUBIICIUNTUR CURA AC STUDIO D. IO. HEINR. MICHAELIS, . . . ET EX PARTE OPERA SOCIORUM; UT PLURIBUS IN PRAEFATIONE DICETUR. Approximately 1000+ pages. Hardcover: H 23cm x L 15cm. Text in Hebrew and Latin and bound right to left typical of Hebrew books. With b/w frontispiece and title page printed in red and black typefaces. Binding seems more 19th century than 18th. Quarter leather; dark brown calf leather spine has narrow loss at head of rear joint with jagged tear descending approximately 5.5cm into second compartment with tear area now obtrusively protruding/curling forward; chipped black title label retains discernable gilt lettering, several gilt bars to spine but with those at head and heel with loss from flaking and rubbing, slender splitting for top 7.75cm of front joint. Rubbed dark paper over cardstock boards; strong wear at board corners with other wear along edges. Muted yellow colored edges; some old slender ink streaks to fore-edge. Rear hinge completely separated allowing rear board (what would be the front board in European binding tradition) to reveal spine's entire inner paper backstrip; front hinge broken as well but with lone lower binding thread still extant preventing boards and spine from completely separating from text block which itself remains firmly bound. Smudged ink name stamp at top of rear free endpaper for C.W. Grafton with his purple ink two-line inscription in brackets "C.W. Grafton 1871 | Columbia So-Carolina" near center with two ink signatures immediately above "S.L. Grafton"[?] and "S.G. Doak 1840;" associated ink smudging onto adjoining rear pastedown. Appears to be lacking front free endpaper as present flyleaf has different tone than front pastedown; several small holes to flyleaf with two carrying forth into frontispiece. Varied toning and some foxing throughout. Sold as is. Features the following books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numeri [Numbers], Deuteronomium [Deuteronomy], Iosuae [Joshua], Iudicum [Judges], I Samuelis [Samuel], II Samuelis, I Regum [Kings], II Regum, Iesaias [Isaiah], Ieremias [Jeremiah], Ezechiel [Ezekiel], Hosea, Ioel [Joel], Amos, Obadia, Iona [Jonah], Micha [Micah], Nahum, Habakuk [Habakkuk], Zephania, Haggai, Zacharia [Zechariah], Malachia [Malachi], Psalmus [Psalms], Proverbia, Iob [Job], Canticum Canticorum, Ruth, Threni, Ecclesiastes, Esther, Daniel, Esrae [Ezra], Nehemiae [Nehemiah], I Chronicorum [Chronicles], and II Chronicorum.
