Book Description William Morrow & Company, New York, New York, U.S.A., 1936. Cloth. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Aymar, Gordon C. (Designer); Adams, Ansel and 44 other sources (Photographs) (illustrator). 1st Edition. Loaded with 190 daring and visually exciting photographs of snow skiing during an era of dramatic advances in U.S. technique and slopes, inspired by the 1932 Winter Olympic Games at Lake Placid, New York. This book talks about "a new technique . the art of downhill skiing" and a "ski fever" intoxication. Those days were filled with joy and this book, highly visual, captures some of that high octane kickapoo juice. The black and white photos are enhanced by a pale shade of blue, much like the bluish cast of the sun on bright white snow and snow shadows. Emphasis is on U.S. skiers as the sport began to explode in popularity. 132 pages, unmarked, and clean. The boards have several bumped corners.Tightly bound, illustrated end papers, grey cloth boards with white ski jump illustration on the front and white lettering on the spine. The dust jacket is in one piece, but with significant paper losses on the front and spine. Still, in an archival clear Brodart cover, it presents quite well and adds to the book's zip. Enjoy the clothing, quaint techniques and equipment, and visuals of ski jump and slope falls and tumbling. Scarce. Bookseller Inventory # 004913
